CRO is the systematic process of raising conversion: diagnosing where users drop off, forming hypotheses, testing changes on data and shipping the variants that win.
CRO is the scientific method applied to sales: instead of "I feel a red button would work better" – hypothesis, A/B test, decision on numbers. The cycle: analytics and session recordings reveal a problem → research suggests the cause → we design a variant → the test decides.
The biggest reserves rarely lie in button colour. Usually they are: an unclear value proposition, hidden delivery costs, an overlong form, missing trust signals (reviews, returns, contact), a slow site on mobile.
The precondition: enough traffic to test. With low traffic, qualitative research and proven patterns replace A/B tests – equally effective, just slower to verify.
